For recreation, Red Springs is conveniently located within 45 minutes of the famed golf courses of Pinehurst and within easy travel to the Grand Strand at Myrtle Beach, S.C., or the beautiful North Carolina beaches. If you enjoy Nascar, the Rockingham and Darlington tracks are each an hour away.

Government

Red Springs has a council-manager form of municipal government. The governing board consists of the mayor and six comissioners. Other boards that function in an advisory capacity to local government include the Planning Board, Board Adjustments, Appearance Commission, Recreation and the Redevelopment Comission. There are approximately 140 businesses in Red Springs. The retail area encompasses an 8-mile radius with a customer base of approximately 25,000 people. The Red Springs trade area is approximately 30 minutes from North Carolina's fourth largest metropolitan area which is the city of Fayetteville. In 1990-1991, almost $2 billion in retail sales was generated in Cumberland County where Fayettville is the retail hub for southeastern, North Carolina.

Healthcare

Red Springs has three medical doctors and one physician assistant (P.A.), two privately participating dentists, one optometrist and trhee drugstores. Hospital facilities are provided in Lumberton, 14 miles away at Southeastern Regional Medical Center. SRMC with a medical staff of 60 physicians, provides health care services which include: Carolina Manor Treatment Center, HealthHorizons Home Health Agency, Hospice of Robeson, HealthHorizons Uniforms and Medical Supplies, Woodhaven - a 116 bed long-termn care facility and SRMC Lifestyle Fitness Center. Red Springs is also served by Moore County Regional Center in Pinehurst, Cape Fear Regional Center in Fayetteville and Scotland Health Care System, a non-profit community owned hospital system in Laurinburg, NC.
